2007: The Birth of a Community

When Valve released The Orange Box and Team Fortress 2 in late 2007, a new era of team-based FPS was born. Founded in the UK by Gimpy (Gimpster) and Minty, The Hampshire Heavies (|H|H|) wasn’t just a clan tag—it was built from the ground up as a sanctuary for players who valued good laughs, fair play, and great camaraderie over toxic sweat.

Whether you were a lethal Soldier flying across Granary, an Uber-ready Medic keeping the payload rolling on Badwater, or a regular just popping in after a long work day, the HH servers were welcoming. Regulars received equal respect to clan tags, forming bonds that extended far beyond the game.

Voice Comms & Camaraderie

The clan’s voice culture evolved from early TeamSpeak days through Quakenet IRC (#the-hh), Ventrilo, and Mumble. Match tactics were brainstormed over midnight chats, laughter echoed through clan wars, and Friday nights were sacred community events.
